Douglas Adams described Mother Earth as mostly harmless. But earthlings, who are supposed to be less intelligent than even mice (Adams again), are hell bent on proving otherwise by meddling with mama on reasons as absurd as shaving their facial hair (aerosols). Some more sensible beings, in the form of organizations, are trying to help paint a different picture of our environment.
The World Wide Fund For Nature, along with Confederation of Voluntary Association (COVA), a voluntary organization involved in organizing continuous beneficial programs for the poor and the needy, is organizing a painting competition for school children at the Urdu Ghar, Moghalpura.
The WWFN is organizing this competition to mark the World Earth Day celebrations, and interested students can register their names at the COVA office.
The theme for this competition will be "environment", and the papers for sketching will be provided by COVA. The students are advised to bring in their own colors, color pencils and paint brushes.
The last day for registration is April 19. Please contact Arif at 457-4527/457-2984 for further details.
