The Department of Culture, the National School of Drama (Bangalore) and the Andhra Pradesh Theater Academy (Hyderabad) are jointly organizing a 60-day certificate course called "Media Workshop On Acting" starting on the 2nd of April, wherein the students will be taught theater, radio, cinema and television skills. The cert may not make your celluloid/stage dreams come true, but hopefully the learning will.
Males and females who are above 15 years of age and know to read, write and speak Telugu are eligible to undergo training in this workshop. The course consists of both theory and practical sessions, with prominent personalities from theater, radio, cinema and television visiting during the sessions to boost the morale of students.
During the course, students will be trained on technical instruments that are used regularly in the various media. As part of the training, students will also be taken to the Hyderabad Doordarshan Kendra to acquaint themselves with the sophisticated technical instruments and processes, and also to studios like Annapurna, Padmalaya and Ramanaidu and the Ramoji Film City.
Students will be also be given an opportunity to enact on stage, and in radio and television as a part of the "Class Work Production Practical" session.
State government employees selected to undergo the training can avail of a special leave of upto 60 days from their respective work places.
Upon completion of the course, students will be awarded certificates at the valedictory function, which will have a number of outstanding personalities from producers, writers, directors, actors, technicians and media officers. On this day, the students will demonstrate the skills imbibed during the workshop in front of the guests.
