Drama makes for a good form of entertainment for most people. The instant and spontaneous reaction of the crowd and the performers is enough to keep everyone on toes the whole evening. When the drama is in a lyrical or poetic form, it makes for even more interesting performances. Such a Pouranikam Janapadulu competition is taking place at the Ravindra Bharathi this week.
The intra-state competition began in October where a total of 40 teams were registered, and amongst them 12 got selected. In this final leg of the competition, the winner amongst these 12 competitors is going to be chosen. The participants are from various areas in Andhra Pradesh such as Cuddapah, Anantpur and Guntur. The judges for the competitions are going to be Mr. Soumitri, Principal of Nrityan College, Dr. Kotte Venkatachary, Dept. Of Treasury Academy, and Mr. Bhaskar Rao, a well-known stage artist.
The teams are going to perform plays based on mythology and folklore. The minimum time for the plays is 15 minutes, and can go upto 50 minutes. There are going to be 4 teams performing each day, and the prize-giving cermony is going to be held on the last day of the competitions.
