It first opened amid much hype and hope in the art-circles - finally the city would have a sample of the great M F Husain's works that the whole world is paying an arm and a leg to possess. And of course, we were flush with pride that he should choose Hyderabad over any other city to be home to Cinema Ghar, a gallery dedicated to one of Husain's most provocative muse, the movies.
But for a while now Cinema Ghar had gone under. The last flutter there was a showing by Anugita Reddy more than three months ago. Cinema Ghar seemed to have gone into hibernation.
To revive the gallery, Husain's son and daughter flew into town and started to get things running. And now, finally, the wait is over. The gallery will reopen this weekend with the release of Husain's autobiographical work, 'M F Husain Ki Kahani Apni Zubani', which is in the form of five CDs. The recording will have all the Husain-lover needs to know about this celebrated artist's inspiration, influences and yes, his inordinate fondness for Madhuri Dixit.
The CDs will be available in Hindi and Urdu, and will be accompanied with an unusual exhibition of hieroglyphics by the master himself. After a celeb-studded evening to mark its beginning, the exhibition will be on for a month.
Please call Cinema Ghar at 2339-2602 for further details.
