Saptaparini, in keeping with its aim of bring the ancient arts of Andhra Pradesh to the people, has organised The Shadow Leather Puppet Show. It is one of the most ancient forms of entertainment. In this form, the puppets are made of goat skin, painted and mounted on bamboo sticks for movement.
This show is an episode from the Ramayana depicting how Hanuman was sent on a voyage to Lanka in search of Sita. It also shows Hanuman's devotion to Rama and his fascinating magical powers. The performance is by a group of puppeteers lead by Kande Ramdas belonging to Sri Kanakadurga Handicraft Leather Puppet Manufacturers Association, Dharmavaram.
