Music lovers must thank the creator for making DNA carry strains of musical talent too. Otherwise music would have been the hapless victim of the vagaries of an individual genius' life and his crests and troughs. Here's one reason for such thanks.
R Jayanti, the niece of Lalgudi Jayaram, the renowned violin maestro, is performing a veena recital as a part of SICA's 42nd foundation day. SICA, a cultural organization, was founded on the 26th of May, 1959.
Apart from regular performances in India, Jayanti has also been in various countries like the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Mauritius, Switzerland and Malaysia. A postgraduate in English literature, Jayanti has also written poems and contributed literary work to some magazines. Her composition "Om Sharavana Bhavana" won her accolades.
K R Ganesh on the mrudangam and K Ramanathan on the ghatam will accompany Jayanti in today. Please contact Chakrapani, SICA, at 761-4374 for further details.
