Shashi Valluri is going to perform a vocal concert at the Lord Balaji Temple in Alwal on 7th April. She will be accompanied by Datta on the flute and Prabhakar on the tabla. Valluri is going to render some masterpieces of Ramadas such as Paluke Bangaramaayena, Taaraka Mantramu, Pahi Rama Prabho, Idigo Bhadradri, Ikshvakula Tilaka and Ramajogi.
Shashi Valluri is the wife of an Army officer, and so had to travel all parts of the country. As part of this, she stayed in the North for many years, including at Chandigarh, Delhi, Badrinath, West Bengal and Assam. She had an interest in Hindustani music, and that made her join the tutelage of Sudhir Dey in West Bengal.
Thereupon, she took training under guru Ganesh Das in Assam, and when she relocated to Chandigarh, she learnt ghazals under the supervision of Prem Prakash. When she moved to Hyderabad, she started learning Carnatic music. Valluri has performed many concerts while she was in the North, and gave performances in the USA, too. She is fond of listening to Annamayya keertanas sung by Garimella Balakrishna.
