Shrishti Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings called Travel India, by Rama Suresh & Santhana Krishnan, from 4th to 16th April. The collection contains 11 paintings of Rama Suresh and 21 paintings of Santhana Krishnan.
The paintings of Santhana Krishnan are all based on doors from different parts of India. They are the traditional ones found during the olden days, and from the childhood memories of Santhana. Suresh's paintings too are from different parts of the country, but his works are on people. Both have travelled to different states of the country and have keenly observed their objects before applying them on the canvas.
K R Santhana Krishnan has done his BFA in painting from Kumbakonam and MFA in painting from the Government College Of Arts & Crafts, Chennai. He has been exhibiting his works since 1993, and has been at the South Zone Culture Centre in Chennai, Tanjore and Nagpur, the Indian Independence Golden Jubilee Show, and Barcelona. He has been given the Appreciation Award by the Directorate of Arts & Culture, and State Award by the Tamil Nadu Ovia Nunkalai Kuzhu & Lalit Kala Academy in Chennai.
M Rama Suresh has done his BFA & MFA in painting from the Government College of Arts & Crafts, Chennai. He has been participating in various solo and group shows since 1996, at the Lalit Kala Academy, Chennai; Chitra Kala Parishad, Machilipatnam; and at Jaipur, Pune, Mumbai, Barcelona and London.
