A lot is happening at this ethnic Rajasthani resort these 3 days. Just don't go alone. Actually, perhaps you could, too.
Dhola-Ri-Dhani, the ethnic Rajasthani resort at Kompally, is organising Dandia and Dussera festivities in a traditional style, from 30th September to 2nd October.
As you enter the resort, you will be given a traditional welcome at the entrance by a blow of the trumpet and a smear of tilak on the forehead. Once you step into the resort, cultural activities like Rajasthani folk songs, dances and puppet shows at the puppet theater, magic shows for children (including a ventriloquist who entertains the audience), and music by their inhouse DJ Ashanth at the cool pub, will hold sway.
For the traditional-fashion-conscious, there are exciting prizes for the best dressed couple and best dandia couple. For the hookah lovers, puff away in Maharajah-style various flavors of hookah like strawberry or pineapple at the special zone in the resort, for a meagre Rs. 50 per head.
Special Dussera activities lined up only for 2nd October are Ramleela, a play on Ramayana, and the Ravan Dahan, burning of Ravana and Kumbhakarna effigies by Rama and Lakshmana, followed by a spectacular display of fireworks on the sky. Then there is Dandia, of course, with a mix of Rajasthani and Bollywood music to end the night.
The entry per night is Rs. 100, exclusive of food. For Rajasthani food lovers, just pay Rs. 250 per head and enjoy the sumptuous tastes of Royal Rajasthani cuisine in a chowki-styled dining hall where Rajasthani vegetarian cuisine is served on leaves, or at the tastefully decorated restaurant with exquisite antique wooden furniture, or in the open-air lawn with buffet vegetarian dinner.
Unlimited toy-train, camel, horse and boat rides are included in the entry ticket.
