Heritage Navratri Exhibition: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR HERITAGE NAVRATRI EXHIBITION

Perhaps the biggest navaratri festivity this year in Hyderabad - donit costs Rs. 10 to get in, and enormous pity to miss out on.

Global Trade Fairz is organising a huge exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, handlooms and other commercial items meant for daily use, at the People's Plaza Grounds, Necklace Road, from 22nd September to 2nd October, on the occasion of the Navratris, with the name Heritage Navratri Fest 2006.

There will be 101 stalls exhibiting various handicrafts, handlooms, terracota, jewelry and lots more, from various parts of India. Coinciding with the Dussera holidays, this exhibition is expected attract over 5,000 visitors every day. These are the artisans exhibiting their products at the expo:

Sandalwood stands and Agarbathis from Mysore
Bangles, jewelry and handlooms from Jaipur

Chanderi saris from Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh

Kurja crockery from Kurja, Uttar Pradesh
Lac bangles and jewelry from Jaipur
Furniture from Mysore
Madhubani paintings from Madhuban, Bihar
Cane and bamboo crafts from Assam
Mangalagiri saris from Mangalagiri, AP
Paintings and image collections from Ammerpet, Hyderabad
Leather Craft from Hyderabad
Kashmir dresses and shawls
Herbal products, flowers and Banjara embroidery from Hyderabad
Cotton durries from Warangal
Silver filigree from Orissa
Bead jewelry from Agra
Cotton saris from Guntur
Kantha-work saris from Kolkata

Woollen carpets from Uttar Pradesh

In addition to the above, Parijatha Real Estates, Mount Opera, Padmini Fans and other commercial stalls will be displaying their company products. And while food stalls with various freshly prepared items will be at your service, fireworks will rule the sky with colorful showers by Bhavani Trading Company, Secunderabad.

In order to avoid unwanted public and theft, entry charges of Rs. 10 will be collected from visitors. Elaborate security arrangements have also been made.

To spice things up further, Shell Events is organising a glittering nite of Dandiya Raas every night at the same venue, for which daily passes and season passes are available.

Pathetic exhibition. It was horrible and but the link shows this to be a grand fest. But in actual there were only 2-3 stalls and they too were useless. I think such links should not be given on this site, bcos the viewers will doubt the authenticity of this site.
