If you think it's hard to see yourself come up with any lesser quality of artwork that most modern artists do, there are a few places we know that you can skip this week. Here's one.
The Pegasus Art Gallery is holding a solo exhibition of paintings by Mihir Maitra with the theme Lokayata, all this week. The paintings of Maitra depict innocent and emotive feelings of humans, and some of mythological figures. His paintings are mostly of mixed media and acrylic on canvas, & water colors on paper. They are known for their unique style of expressions and uncommon compositions.
Maitra was born in 1938, and is a self-taught artist. He was associated with an art organisation called The Eye Within, and worked under the guidance of Prakash Karmakar, an artist of international repute. He was later on initiated to an artists' forum, Reflection Another Day (RAD), and since then, Partho Roy has been advising him in matter of paintings. His work is inspired by the Kalighat School of Paintings.
