REVIEW FOR HYDERABAD POLO SEASON 2006

If you play Polo, you're among about 50 Hyderabadis who do. If you watch it, the number is perhaps similar. If you've always wanted to be exclusive, therefore, here's the do.

The Hyderabad Polo Season 2006 is back again at the Bison Polo Grounds, Secunderabad, from 14th September to 1st October. This prestigious event is being brought to you by Andhra Pradesh Tourism, and is being organised by Bison Riding & Polo Institute and the Indian Polo Association. There will be four cups, namely the 4-goal Army Commander Trophy, the 6-goal Prince of Berar Cup, the 8-goal A P Tourism Cup and the Bison Trophy Exhibition Match Cup, at stake.

8 teams, namely President's Bodyguard, 61st Cavalry, ASC, Indian Navy, Artillery Centre of Nashik, AP Polo And Riding Club and two teams from the Hyderabad Polo And Riding Club, are in the fray, battling out for those glittering trophies. Indian National Captain Samir Suhag, Austrialian Brendon Fahey, and his wife Lisa Fahey, will be players of repute, playing for any of the two Hyderabad teams.

The schedule of the tournament:

September 14th-17th - Army Commander's Cup
September 18th - Exhibition Match
September 19th-24th - Prince of Berar Cup
September 21st - Exhibition Match
September 26th-October 1st - AP Tourism Cup
September 28th - Exhibition Match for Bison Trophy

All the matches are from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM on the 14th and the 15th, whereas from the 16th till the end of the tournament, matches will start from 3:30 PM.

Various dignataries like Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajashekar Reddy, Tourism Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy, Ex-Chief Secretary of Govt of AP T K Dewan, Gen K V Krishna Rao and several army commanders are expected to hand over the various trophies to the winners.
