If you had a lakh for every award Narahari has received, you'd be very very rich. Actually, even if you had a thousand. Luckily, you can see his work for free.
Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Arts is organising an exhibition of paintings and drawings by B Narahari, between 17th and 24th September. The works will be exhibited under the theme Jaanapadam, and will depict the rural lifestyle of people. There will be about 30 selected paintings in acrylic and water colors. These will show various lambada women in different styles, and rural men and women in various moods.
Narahari has a degree in Fine Arts, with a Gold Medal distinction from the JNTU College of Fine Arts. He has participated in various art exhibitions in Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and other places, and also at various artists' camps in Nagpur, Shillong, Hyderabad, Kullu-Manali, Nagarjunasagar and Delhi. He has also received various awards like he AIFACS State-Level Award in 1997, the National Award in 1997, 2002 and 2004, and the Bharat Kala Parishat Silver Medal in 1985 & 1988. Narahari works as a Technical Officer at the National Institute of Nutrition at Hyderabad.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Chandana Khan, IAS, Commissioner of Enquiries, at 6:00 PM on the 17th September, and exhibition is open everyday till 24th September. Please contact the gallery at 3091-3922/2311-3308 for further details.
