The Jute Manufacturers Development Council is organising an exhibition-cum-sale of jute products, from 21st to 26th September, at the YMCA Secunderabad Hall.
The entrance to the hall greets you with three stalls from Svayambhar Nari of Kolkata. These stalls have various products made from the golden fibre, namely ashtrays, dustbins, dining table mats and coasters, men's and women's footwear with Kantha work, and hanging chairs and hammocks that can hold upto 250kgs of weight, claim the artisans.
Entering the hall, you will find about a 20 stalls on both your left and right sides, with a wide variety of jute items like decorative wall hangings with beautiful and colorful pictures, Dhurries and carpets, hand bags and carry bags, handicrafts, handlooms, soft luggage, and various gifts and novelties.
The prices too are reasonable, ranging from Rs. 30 onwards. A pair of smooth jute footwear for men is available for Rs. 130, while it is Rs. 200 for ladies with kantha stitching work. Ashtrays are available for Rs. 30, dustbins for Rs. 70, wall hangings from Rs. 75 and so on.
