The annual Golconda Culture Festival, a grand celebration of music, dance & history organised by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, is on from 18th to 20th April this year, at the Taramati Baradari Cultural Complex, Gandipet Road, Ibrahimbagh. On the first day today, V Anuradha Singh will be performing a Kathak dance, the inaugural recital.
Anuradha Singh is today among the most recognized names in the field of Kathak. She trained under the renowned Kathak maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj, after being selected for a scholarship & fellowship by the Ustad Allauddin Khan Sangeet Academy run by the Government of MP. She got her master's degree in Kathak with merit (and a gold medal) from the Indira Kala Sangeet University, Dist. Khairagarh, Chhatisgarh. She received the scholarship & fellowship in Kathak from the government, and trained under the guidance of late Pt. Kartikramji, Pt. Ramlalji & late Pt. Durgalalji (Jaipur Gharana).
Singn has performed internationally and in India at more than 50 highly reputed festivals organized by the government in recent years, such as the International Taj Festival, Lucknow Mahotsav, Udai Shankar Dance Festival, Maharana Kumbha Samaroh Udaipur, Khairagarh Mahotsav, Bhoramdeo Mahotsav, Chakradhar Samaroh Raigarh, Classical Dance Festival Goa, Ellora-Ajanta Festival, International Buddha Mahotsav, Malabar Mahotsav and The Festival of Chandigarh.
