Good scripts, any theatre artist will tell you, are rare to come by. So we take old stories, ones that have inspired and transformed us, and give them new life, by plucking them out of the past and planting them firmly here, in the now.
That's exactly what the students at the Sarojini Naidu School Of Performing Arts are going to do with the story of life of Harishchandra Bharatendu, a 19th century Hindi dramatist. His biography is a gripping tale first written, fascinatingly enough, in Kannada. It's been translated into Telugu and the play is titled, Ee Natakam Aagadu.
Every year the School brings out a major production, directed by a member of the faculty and this year's performance promises as much talent as all the rest. Please contact DSN Murthy at 98481-28845 for further details.
