A virtuoso treating you to what is music to your ears? Well, after all, music is a therapy. And when it comes from the pioneer himself, aficionados of music from this side of the Vindhyas couldn't have had it better.
Aakruti, a cultural organization started by a gentleman called Sudhakar almost eleven years back, is into organizing cultural events in the city. This organization has hosted a number of music, dance and art festivals and has arranged felicitations for a number of renowned personalities from various domains. Recently, they have organized a congregation of top cultural organizations in the city where some noted artists have participated and displayed their talent. About 200 programs exhibiting great variety and versatility were presented under this banner.
This evening, Aakruti has arranged a Carnatic vocal concert to be rendered by Dr Kalluri Murali Krishna, the General Manager A P Telecom, Kurnool. Dr. Krishna is a famous Carnatic vocalist, and in spite of his top cadre and busy schedule, takes time out and performs concerts at every given opportunity. He has 700 concerts to his credit, and has been awarded reputed titles like Gaana Gandharva and Gaana Sudhakara among several others for his diligence and caliber.
He has also received some coveted international awards, namely 'Man of the Year 1999' presented by the American Biographical Institute (USA), the International Order of Merit by Cambridge University (USA), Distinguished Leadership Award (USA) and Doctorate in Indian Music (USA). His cassettes on music therapy have won him wide accolades.
