Taj Krishna, in association with Ochre, is organizing an international contemporary art exhibition 'Pro|Con', at the Emerald Hall of Taj Krishna, on 24th June. Pro|Con (short for process vs. concept) is a first-of-its-kind event in Hyderabad featuring 45 items of painting, sculpture and video art by acclaimed artists from India and the United States. The works to be exhibited are products of pro|con, Ochre's inaugural international artists-in-residence event, conducted in February 2007 in Hyderabad.
The event was organized in a spirit of exposition and interaction among artists and thereby to establish a dialogue, a cross-border artistic collaboration, and an understanding of American and Indian contemporary painting - their purpose, style, and cultural influences. 37 renowned artists, ranging in age from 28 to 70 years, and from the United States and India, participated in the event.
Some of the artists who participated are Yousuf Arrakal, Aditya Basak, Chandra Bhattacharjee, Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya, Jatin Das, Amitaba Das, Suhas Roy, Surya Prakash, Thota Vaikuntam, S C Vasudev and Jai Zharotia from India, and Jesse Berkowepz, Hisham Bharoocha, Duillermo Crues, Paul Campbell, Giles Lyon and Raimunlo Rubio from USA.
Ochre is a collaborative effort of art lovers, collectors and curators. Their mission is to showcase contemporary Indian art on the international stage. Based in Hyderabad, Ochre is a private entity. The entry is free. Please contact the venue at 6666-2323 for further details.
