Yasala Balaiah is organising an art exhibition depicting the rural life of Telangana from 13th to 23rd June. A collection of over 40 is on display at the exhibition.
A native of the area, Balaiah is known for his delightful paintings of Telangana, featuring the beautiful rural backdrop. His colourful works include farmers, rural women, fields, plantations etc., and depict Telangana in every painting with a refreshing whiff of rural splendor.
Balaiah, a National Award winner, is an established senior artist born in 1939, and is Hyderabad-based. After completing his MA & B Ed in drawing and painting in 1962, he took up a job as an art teacher. An expert at Batik painting, he earned himself the nickname Batik Balaiah, fascinating people all over the world with his dexterous experiments in this medium.
Balaiah has retired from his job as a teacher, and has devoted himself to working at his art full-time. He has participated in many solos and group shows in India and also abroad, and has received many awards since 1962.
