Shila Shilp, an exhibition of contemporary stone products, is being organized by the Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh from 23rd to 25th June, between 10:30am and 7pm. The items are available for purchase, too.
The exhibition features various big and small articles carved in stone, including garden seeds, bird baths, table tops, wall panels, candle stands and little Ganeshas. There are various intricate items including stones carved into bananas and caster leaves. The articles have been made from different varieties of stones like albastor, sandstone, granite and marble. Artists from various states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orrisa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are participating in this exhibition.
The Crafts Council of Andhra Pradesh is 21 years old, and is affiliated to the Crafts Council of India, which in turn is affiliated to the World Craft Council. The CCI has 14 branches all over the country, and works with the handicraft and handloom industries. It is a vountary non-profit NGO.
