Personifying the classical heroine is what Anupama's dance speaks of - myriad moods and emotions, passion and disgust, the classical heroine wandering in the woods searching for her lover Krishna. For this Kuchipudi dancer tutored under guru Uma Rama Rao, creating classical poems for the eye comes almost naturally. Anupama's recent dance ballet Padavali of Bhanusingh based on Rabindranath Tagore's poem, a love lyric of Radha and Krishna in Brij Bhasha backed by Hindustani melodies, was an exploration of the subtle moods and feelings of lovers. Anupama, also a Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani music, has recently published a book titled Naayikas in Kshetrayya Padams. PS
