Abacus 2003: Events in Hyderabad

PREVIEW FOR ABACUS 2003

Abacus is now an annual IT quiz. Events are made a regularity based on their
popularity. And, boy, was it popular last year. This is how the place was last
year: kids running everywhere, the speakers blaring loudly, guys banging computers
crudely and girls screaming mindlessly. Imagine how it was when the quiz actually
started.

Before your imagination runs wild, it should be said that afterwards, the event went on in a very orderly fashion. Great quizzing, cool prizes. Nothing seems to have changed this year, except, of course, the date.

The quiz starts off with a written preliminary. Around 50 teams would move on into the next round, which will be an online round. Then 8 teams move into the semis, and finally the last four battle it out for the grand prize.

A team consists of 2 persons, and only BCA and B Sc colleges are allowed. B. Tech. students don't fret, they don't have you probably because you all are too good. The registration fee is Rs. 25. Winner will get cash prizes worth Rs. 5,000 and runners-up around Rs. 3,000. There will also be other prizes from Infy Internet and the likes. So come there if you think you are technically not challenged.
