Apart from its role in cracking national forensic crimes, CCMB is known for another reason - the space it preserves for art and its creators. On the occasion of its foundation day, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology has flagged off a month-long art camp for nineteen painters from Kolkata.
Organised by artist and curator Surya Prakash, the camp features around 38 examples of post-modern art. Art historian Nanak Ganguly, who accompanied the artists and their works here, says, "There is only one theme that binds the works - but all the artists have discovered a new vocabulary of picture-making. There's an air of freshness about their art."
The works cost anywhere between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 30,000 for one painting. For further details, please contact 2716-0222.
