The Hyderabad Bangalee Samithi is presenting a Hindusthani vocal recital by Sandipan Samajpati, at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, on 28th July. He will be supported by Ashok Mukherjee on the tabla and Surendra Bharathi on the harmonium.
An A-grade vocalist of Doordarshan and All-India Radio, Sandipan Samajpati received extensive taleem for about two decades from Pandit Manas Chakraborty. Years of unrelenting practice coupled with a rare cerebrality in his musical approach, his innate craving for perfection and, above all, his mellifluous and tuneful voice have all combined to give his music a rare dimension that instantly captures the hearts of the listeners.
Since his debut performance at the age of 16, Sandipan has performed in a number of prestigious and reputed music conferences throughout India, and abroad, too - in USA (March-April 2007), England and Switzerland (May 2007), Australia, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden.
Sandipan was awarded the first Sangeet Natak Akademi Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2006, the Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran Puraskar 2005 by the Sangit Kala Kendra of Mumbai, and the Talent Scholarship by the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The Hyderabad Bangali Samithi was established in 1942, to promote goodwill and a feeling of fellowship among members of the Bengali community, and also between the Bengalis and the other communities, living in Andhra Pradesh. To achieve this, the Samithi organises various cultural and musical events regularly, in addition to the annual Durgashtami that is organised on a grand scale.
