Lakshana Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings by Radhika Prathipati, from 20th to 30th July. The display has about 21 acrylic on canvas paintings, the recent works of Radhika.
Women have influenced a majority of the artists and painters, for generations, and Radhika is one of them. Woman in her myriad forms is the central theme of her paintings. In this exhibition titled Moods... Melodies... Mysteries - An Insight Into The Privilege Of Womanhood, each creation pays a tribute to the varying moods and endless nuances that contribute to an entity called woman.
All of the paintings feature the subject in perfect harmony with her surroundings. Sometimes an additional element from nature, like trees, plants, flowers, pigeons, crows, cow and water, is an integral part of the theme.
Each individual painting is titled based on the pensive and contemplative mood of the subject. Harmony, The Quest, Oneness, Fountainhead Of Life, Slumber, Mother Earth, Fulfillment, Yearning, The Source, Isolation, Pathos, Unheard Melodies and The Renaissance are some of them. Even thought the paintings are figurative, the dream-like and surrealistic additions on the canvas put the common spectator in a tizzy.
Radhika is a self-taught artist who discovered her latent creative talent on a sojourn in Dubai. A qualified computer professional, she found new avenues of expressions through her paintings, which have been exhibited in several art shows. She has been part of the All-India Art Exhibition by the Hyderabad Art Society in 2006 & 2007, the Scribble Group Show at the State Art Gallery in 2006 & 2007, and a group show at Kalahita in 2006.
