St. Andrews High School is organising the 5th Annual Inter-Schools Basketball Tournament for the Dr. Emily Emmanual Trophy, at the school's basketball courts, from 25th to 31st July. 17 boys' teams and 13 girls' teams are participating in this league-cum-knockout tournament. The participating teams have been divided into four groups each, in both the boys and girls categories, as below:
In the boys, Group A consists of HPS (Begumpet), Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Abhyasa High School and Ivy League; Group B has St. Andrew's High School, St. John's High School, Hindu Public School and Delhi Public School; Group C has St. Patricks High School, Meridian High School, St. Joseph High School (King Koti) and ICFAI Residential School, and Group D has Chirec Public School, Martinet, St. Andrew's High School, Gitanjali High School and St. Joseph's High School (Marredpally).
In the girls, Group A has St. Pious High School, Gitanjali High School and Holy Family High School; Group B has St. Joseph (Habsiguda), Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Chirec Public School; Group C has Nasr School, St. Anthony High School and Abhyasa; and Group D has St Andrew's High School, Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet), Meridian High School and Hindu Public School.
All the teams play the other teams in their respective group once, and the top two teams from each group in both boys and girls qualify for the knockout/quarterfinals. The group matches will be played from 25th to 28th July, the quarterfinals and semifinals on 29th July and the finals on 30th July. 31st July will be the reserve day in case of a rain.
Cash prizes worth Rs. 1,50,000 will be given away to the teams. In the boys, the winners pocket Rs. 8,000 along with the trophy, the runners-up get Rs. 6,000 and the two losing semifinalists get Rs. 3,000 each. For the girls, the winners carry home Rs. 6,000 and the trophy, the losing finalists get Rs. 4,000, and the two losing semifinalists get Rs. 2,000 each. In addition, cash prizes will also be given to the best player of the tournament, and the best players of the final, semifinals, quarterfinals and individual leagues.
