REVIEW FOR BHARATANATYAM BY DISCIPLES OF MANJULA RAMASWAMY
The Sita Rama Naama Sankeetana Sangam is organising a Bharatanatyam recital on 11th April at the Lord Balaji Temple, Alwal. Nearly 50 disciples of Manjula Ramaswamy are going to perform in the recital. They will start with Alaripu, which will be followed by jati swaram and a tillana. The recital will be accompanied by Manjula Ramaswamy and V S Ramamurthy on nattuvangam, Prema Ramamurthy on vocal, Raja Gopalachary on the mridangam, Dattareya on the flute, Sai Kumar on the violin, Srikanth with special effects.
Manjula Ramaswamy is the daughter of Guru V S Ramamurthy, and had her initial training in Bharatanatyam under Late Padmasri K N Dandayudha Pani Pillai, and further training under her father. Married to Ramaswamy Iyer, Manjula is a graduate in commerce and has a Master's degree in Bharatanatyam from the Central University, Hyderabad, where she was also awarded a gold medal and the Nritya Bharati title.
With all her humility, sincerity, hard work and dedication, Manjula trains her students with a great eye for perfection. She is acclaimed as one of the leading nattuvangam artistes of the country.
