The Secunderabad Club is treating its members to a big remix nite by the Godfather of Bhangra, Bally Sagoo, this weekend. Bally Sagoo will be performing some Asian musical and Bollywood remixes, especially bhangra, at the open air auditorium of the Club.
Born in New Delhi and raised in Birmingham, Bally Sagoo (Baljit Singh Sagoo) grew up listening to the music of his time - Hip-Hop, Reggae and Top 40. From the tender age of 10, Sagoo got a taste for making music and started producing tunes from his modest bedroom which is now renowned as the 'Currywood Studios'.
A true perfectionist and innovator, Sagoo experimented and mixed Indian songs with Western beats, which led to his big break in 1989, when he was talent-spotted by a local record label, Oriental Star Agency. A year on saw his first major release with his remix of a track called 'Hey Jamalo', which forced critics to sit up and take notice of him.
In 1992, Sagoo went on to produce the outstanding and cutting edge album 'Magic Touch' with the legendary Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. This partnership not only got Sagoo undisputed appreciation from all generations, it was also the first time that he had worked with original voices, and it became a huge landmark in the Asian market.
From then on, he went breaking records all the way. His legendary masterpiece Bollywood Flashback, and the UK Top Ten chartbuster Rising From The East, are some of his subsequent releases. He has done the opening act for Michael Jackson's India tour, and produced an album for the Big B.
Constantly in demand, he receives requests from a plethora of Hollywood and Bollywood directors alike; he most recently produced music for international hits like Bend it Like Beckham and Monsoon Wedding, and Bollywood films Kartoos, Hera Pheri, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The future looks bright for Sagoo - with a possible biopic, a slick nightclub and a clothing label people cannot get enough of the Bally Sagoo name.
The entry is only for members, but outsiders are welcome as the members' guests. So try making friends with the Club's members to sneak in. Please contact 92465-27619 for further details.
