Chitramayee - State Gallery Of Fine Arts is organising a group exhibition of paintings by Reflection Of Another Day (RAD) artists, from 10th July till 15th July. About 42 paintings and 20 pieces of sculpture are on display.
10 artists - Sushanta Choudhary, Alike Roy, Timir Brahma, Ananta Mondal, Ranajit Adhikari, Dhiraj Roy, Subrata Saha, Soumendra Sarkar, Sreya Ghosh and Sudipto Bardhan - and 5 sculptors, Pradip Mondal, Soumen Das, Kaushik Paul, Debjit Chakraborty and Rathin Dey, are exhibiting their works at the gallery.
The paintings and sculpture are done in the typical Shantiniketan style as all the artists are graduates in painting from Vishwa Bharati University, Shantiniketan. These are upcoming artists from Kolkata, who have exhibited their works at various group shows under the RAD banner. The paintings are creative/figurative, abstract and semi-abstract.
Reflection Of Another Day (RAD) was formed by Partho Roy in 1992 in Kolkata, with the intention of promoting young artists with plenty of potential but few opportunities. In this endeavor, it has successfully provided many artists a platform to express their ideas through national level interactive workshops and group shows.
In addition to the art workshops and group shows, RAD has also helped other voluntary activities like plantation of seedlings, nature awareness art camps with the WWF, promotion of folk-art and endangered arts of the districts like Purulia, Midnapore and Madhubani, and music and dance programs related to nature based themes. It has also collaborated with the Govt. of West Bengal for the Charukala Utsav and the Food And Tourism Festival.
