Voleti Parvateesam, a renowned poet, is organizing the Voleti Krishna Kumari award function in assocation with Abhinandana, in memory of his wife Late Voleti Krishna Kumari, on 22nd June, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. Voleti Krishna Kumari was a renowned carnatic vocalist.
On this occasion, the Voleti Krishna Kumari Memorial Award will be presented to Neti Srirama Sharma. The chief guest for the evening will be Potteri Venkateshwar Rao, ex-chairman of the A P Press Academy. The other guests are Acharya Betavolu Ramabhramam, a professor of Telugu in Hyderabad Central University, and Dr R Anantha Laxmi, a Telugu lecturer at Railway Degree College, Tarnaka.
Neti Srirama Sharma, one of the best music teachers in Andhra Pradesh, learnt Carnatic music at the feet of Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu. He was also a colleague of the legend Dr. Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna.
The award function will be preceded by a flute concert called Smriti Sameeram, by Jayaprada Ramamurthy. Jayaprada is the daughter of well-known guru Prema Ramamurthy. She received guidance from N S Srinivasan and Dr. N Ramani, and was the first female flautist to play the Base Flute (Long Flute) and the Western Key Flute using shifts in octaves.
She has performed in front of many dignitaries such as the President Of India, and is the recipient of many prestigious awards, some of them being Best Performer at the Spirit Of Youth festival, Chennai; the T R Mahalingam Flute Endowment Award, Chennai; and the Best Girl Flautist in Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad.
