There are too many classical stalwarts performing in the city today. What would make you come here, then, would perhaps be the people who've selected Padmavathi. Guess who?
The Hyderabad Music Circle is organising its 3-day Annual Music Festival from 1st to 3rd December, at Kala Subbarao Kalavedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. Noted musicians of Hyderabad will be performing in the concerts, and today, the inaugural day, there is a veena recital by K Padmavathi, supported by B V S Prasad on the mridangam.
Padmavathi belongs to a family of vainikas, having learned veena from her father, the veena vidwan Late Meduri Narasimha Murthy. At present, she is under the guidance of her brother Meduri Srinivas, another world-class veena player. She is a B-High grade artiste of the All India Radio. She has performed in various concerts in Andhra Pradesh and at some of the major cities of India.
The Hyderabad Music Circle is an active music-promoting cultural organisation, started in December 2005 and headed by some highly-talented musicians like Hyderabad Brothers D Raghava Chary & D Seshachary (no less!), N Ch Parthasarathy, and Y Ramaprabha. The organisation encourages upcoming artistes to participate in its monthly concerts (organised every 2nd Saturday), thereby creating a platform for them to showcase their talents to music lovers.
Please contact D Seshachary at 2750-4762 or Y Rama Prabha at 2763-7123 for further details.
