It's taken Chitra 20 years after her PG in painting, to display at Hyderabad. Yes, it's a recognition well-deserved.
Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Arts is organising an exhibition of paintings by Chitra Singh, from 18th November to 2nd December. Singh is exhibiting about 40 oil paintings on hard-wrapped canvas, with bright appealing colors. The paintings are mostly figurative, and some non-figurative ones depict beautiful nature and life, which she has translated into a simplified and modernistic language in her work. She paints whatever she sees and appeals to her.
Chitra Singh is a Delhi-based artist, who's done her Post-Graduation in Drawing & Painting from Meerut University in 1986. She has participated in various solo exhibitions at the Lalit Kala Academy and Hotel Ashok, and in group shows at Pruva Sanskrit Kendra, Indraprastha Art Gallery and Greenwood Art Gallery, all in Delhi. This is her first exhibition at Hyderabad.
