The Hyderabad Film Club is organising an Israeli Film Festival, from 25th to 28 July, at the Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet. The screenings include three award winning films and four documentaries. Today, the final day, Three Mothers, an Israeli Film By Dina Zvi-Riklis, will be the second film to be screened, at 7:30pm.
Nominated for 9 Israeli Academy Awards, Three Mothers is the multigenerational saga of beautiful triplets. Rose, Flora and Jasmine, born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1943, were blessed by King Faruk as a rare triplet. Today they live together in Israel, their lives clouded by secrets and lies from the past.
Flora has just retired, Rose, once a popular singer, is dreaming of a comeback, and Jasmine needs an urgent kidney transplant. In their desperation, they reach "This Is Your Life", where Rose's only daughter Rocha works, to tell her their story so that they can clear their conscience and also find Flora's long lost son who was given up for adoption in mysterious circumstances. Following the stories of her mother and aunts, Rocha's world disintegrates, and repressed childhood memories slowly surface.
"Three Mothers" is a story of three sisters who stuck together through thick and thin, sacrificing their families and themselves out of infinite loyalty to each other, paying a heavy price for doing so.
