The saint gave devotion a new dimension. Till then, few thought that exercising their vocal chords would lead them to Nirvana. If faith can move mountains, music can move faith in the right direction. And celebrating his birth anniversary would give scope to doing what the saint actually stood for.
Sri Veena Paani Kala Peetham is organizing a three-day cultural program in which music, literature, dance and Annamayya-keertana rendition competitions will take place. These programs are part of the Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya Jayantotsavamulu (Annamacharya birthday celebrations).
On the first day, Vinnakota Revathi will perform a vocal recital, which will be followed by those of Anitha Reddy and Bala Kameshwari separately. The second day will see Sri Annamayya Utsava Prarambham (beginning of the celebrations) by Jyothirmayi Choudhary, in charge of Sri Annamayya Kalapeetham. Srini Soorapaneni will perform a Bharatanatyam recital the same evening, and Law Minister P Chandrasekhar will be the chief guest.
The final day will see the the producer of the film Annamayya, V Doraiswamy Raju, felicitated. This will be followed by a Kuchipudi recital by danseuse Swathi Somnath. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao will preside over the function.
