Renowned writer and columnist Shobha De is launching her new book, Superstar India - From Incredible To Unstoppable, on 16th June, at the Grand Ballroom of Taj Krishna. The book is published by Penguin Books and is about articles written against neo-liberalism, the denial of poverty, corruption, love and hate for all that is Western, lack of compassion, jingoism, lavish weddings, gender relationships, sex, the new generation, traditions, festivities and the like.
Shobha De was born in Maharashtra and graduated from St Xavier's College, Bombay, with a degree in psychology. She began a career in journalism in 1970, in the course of which she founded and edited three popular magazines - Stardust, Society and Celebrity. At present, she is a freelance writer and columnist for several newspapers and magazines.
She wrote her first novel - the best-selling Socialite Evenings - in 1988. Over the years, she has written about 15 books, which have all been popular, and a thousand articles for newspapers and magazines.
