Bawaji ka bioscope has come to town. And this one's been seen by more evolved persons than kids of villages. Who'd a painter man appreciate as fans more than critics?
Born at a place called Dhuri in Punjab in 1941, Manjit Bawa had a flair for painting since his childhood. He studied at the Delhi College of Art, and later earned a diploma in silk-screen printing from the London School of Printing. He has been deeply influenced by painter Abani Sen, whom he affectionately calls Master Babu.
Bawa's works have managed to impress hundreds of critics and art lovers alike for a number of years. His painterly realm mirrors his assimilations of his childhood impressions. Images like fleeting russet sunsets, lazy blue smoke spiraling upwards through chimneys, a flock of parrots descending on the lawns and long grass find expression in his works and show his artistic vocabulary.
Bawa is all set to exhibit his paintings at this exhibition called "Recent Works 2001". Please contact Sanjukta Roy at 98481-30837 for further details.
