Rehman could teach you a few things about making the most of your vacation the next time around - the snaps taken on his travels are priced at Rs. 3,000, each. Of course, there are certain other things that Rehman can do with a camera, and here's your chance to check out how you measure up.
He's an ardent lover of nature and a connoisseur of painting, travel and music, but S K Rahman is more prominently a photographer of contemporary life in India, with his subjects ranging from 'the rock forms of the Deccan plateau' to the 'street life in Kolkata'. After completing his studies from the JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad, in 1992, he joined the same college as Associate Professor in the Department Of Photography.
Rehman's works encompass many regions, and people from all walks of life. They reveal a keen awareness of "nature and life", and due to his love for travel, he has been all around India and Nepal, and has more than 2,500 pictures to his credit.
His latest exhibition, Nukkad - The Street Life Of Kolkata, brings to life, among other things, the darkness in the lives of people of the streets of Sonagachi (the famous Kolkata red light area). Each photo frame cost Rs. 3,000.
