Jyotsna Kalapeetham is presenting this year's annual Jandhyala Gold Medal to Tanikella Bharani, on 23rd June, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. On this occasion, Ragajhari will be organising a cine musical nite.
The chief guest for the evening will be Dr. Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Chairman of the A P Cultural Council. The other guests for the function will be Vasantha Nageshwara Rao, President of Andhra Pradesh State Co-operative Bank Ltd; Prof. Yeluru Siva Reddy, OU; Dr. Nabi, poet; and Acharya T Anandaramam, poet.
Tanikella Bharani is a multi-faceted actor of Tollywood requiring no introduction. He is a playwright, a dialogue writer and an actor. He worked in around 320 films like Shiva, Jagadeka Veerudu Attiloka Sundari, Money, Money Money, Budget Padmanabham, Indra, Manmadhudu, Dhee, Main Tere Pyaar Mein Pagal and Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.
Jyotsna Kalapeetam was founded in 1997 by S Sarath Jyotsna Rani, a Professor in the Hyderabad Central University's Telugu Department. The organization has been encouraging young talent in poetry by giving awards and rewards. It gives out 3 major awards every year - the Jandhyala Gold Medal which is given to comedians, the Sugandhamayi Sahiti Puraskaram which includes a cash award of Rs. 5,116 to people who excel in sahityam, and Ugadi Puraskarams to 9 personalities who have excellence in their fields.
