The Department of Culture is organizing a number of cultural programs like patriotic ballets, dramas and songs on the occasion of the 54th Independence Day. The highlight will be a musical show by college students with the theme "Sare Jahan Se Achcha". Students of various colleges will participate in this program, aimed at inculcating a sense of patriotism among them.
Freedom fighters will also be felicitated on the occasion. Boyi Beemanna, noted writer, and the the mother of Kargil war martyr Major Padmaphani Acharya will be specially felicitated on the occasion.
