Perhaps the most patriotic thing you'll be doing this Independence Day is hoping that the militants don't get the PM and his colleagues as they've sworn they will. Yes, it is difficult for any State with a population of a billion to make its people feel extremely loyal to the nation on one day, but at least it is making sure that if you by chance are, then it gives you enough dope to continue felling that way for a while.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is organizing a special book exhibition for a 9-day period, on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations. Some hundreds of books in different Indian languages and in various genres - the biographies of eminent personalities, children's literature, Gandhian literature, reference works, books on communication and journalism, animal husbandry and trees - will be on display. A special discount of 10 per cent will be on offer on all the publications at this exhibition.
