As part of the ongoing All-India Crafts Mela from 15th to 31st December, Shilparamam is presenting a folk song recital by Aruna Subbarao and group on the second day. Aruna, a very well-known singer of folk songs, will start with Atto Nee Vacchinela, followed by Ninnu Vadali Undalenu Ra, Lairi Lairi, Obbi Obbi Varamchesi, Dubailo Koluvanta, Gussa Cheyakuro Mamo and a couple of other songs. Aruna will be supported by Mekala Narayana, Amrish, Suguna and Geetavani on the vocals, Sudhakar on the keyboard, Shiva on the dholak and Raju on the pads.
Aruna is a Limca Book Of Records holder for singing 100 folk songs in 100 minutes. She is a dubbing artiste, writer, singer and a B-High graded artiste of the AIR. She learnt light music from her father A R Raju, in Srikakulam, for 15 years. She started performed burrakathas at the age of 5 itself, and performed them for 10 years.
With over 1,000 performances to her credit, Aruna was awarded the Shiromani Award by Delhi Telugu Academy, and various other titles like the Janapada Gana Kokila, Janapada Gana Madhuri, Parody Lady and Shatageeta Sudha Lahari. She has anchored television programs like Sakhi in ETV2, Hasya Tarangam on DD Saptagiri and Paadave Koyila in Vissa.
