Lakshana Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Priti Samyukta under the title One Warm Winter, from 8th to 16th December. The display contains about 30 works of Priti.
Woman and her relationship with nature are what Priti's paintings and drawings are about. The artist is concerned about the disappearing wilderness around us. She loves wild life - everyone else loves it, too, but thinking in the broader perspective, the question is, are we concerned?
The elements in the paintings and drawings, like the leaves, dragonflies and wild flowers, also add to the concerns. Plants that we once saw during our childhood days are now only seen in nurseries. The flora and fauna on earth is fast diminishing due to rapid developments.
Priti has done her Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Hyderabad, with painting as the specialisation. This is her first solo show - she has taken part in a couple of workshops and camps, and also in a number of group shows. Currently she is an arts lecturer at the College of Fine Arts, JNTU. She has worked in different media, including litho printmaking and acrylic paintings, and is currently experimenting with the pen and ink media.
