Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Arts is organising Five Elements, a group exhibition of paintings by Gorthy Aruna Kumar, Guduri Prabhakara Rao, Jeevan Gosika, Anand Sastry and Narendra Nath, from 11th to 20th December. An annual group exhibition of the five artists, this one has about 50 paintings on display.
Gorthy Aruna Kumar has the ability to put what a creative and artistic mind sees through the naked eye, on a plain white paper or on canvas, and turn it into an artistic master piece oozing with vibrant colors - either a portrait, a landscape or a still life. He is working as a chief supervisor in the Avionics Division of HAL (Hyderabad). He has been painting at his home as a hobby since 1977. He had no formal training, and learnt the art of painting, mixing various colors to get the right shade, all by himself. He specializes in oil paintings on canvas, water colors, and pencil sketches of portraits, landscapes, still life and wild life.
Guduri Prabhakara Rao has had a natural inclination towards drawings & paintings since his childhood, which made him a creative artist. His works depict ancient as well as modern themes. He has participated in various art exhibitions, at the Hyderabad Art Society, the A P State Cultural Council in Hyderabad, the South Central Zone Cultural Center in Nagpur, the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, and the Lalita Kala Parishad in Visakhapatnam. He received the 1st prize at the State level Art Competition in Chitramayee, and was awarded the Lokmanya Tilak Award in Pune, The Royal Gold Medal from Karnataka, and at the Lalita Kala Parishad in Visakapatnam.
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Jeevan Gosika has devotedly moulded himself into a self-taught artist of outstanding caliber. Under the able guidance of artists like Viswanath Bede, he imbibed the subtle nuances of the professional skills. He mastered the artistic intricacies of embellishments as well as larger-than-life-size murals. The themes of his works range from the devotional to the contemporary. He is known to include the peacock in most of his paintings.
Anand Sastry's present series of paintings, 'Tiled Dwellings Of Narsingi', showcases his works on paper in pen and ink and light pigments. Tiled houses are expressed beautifully by the delicate juxtaposition of light and shade, and careful study.
Narendra Nath comes from a long legacy of professional artists. He has a great love for the impressionistic style of painting. He works in oil and mixed media to create impressionistic landscape paintings. He uses rich color & bold fluid strokes to capture light in his paintings. He has exhibited his paintings in all major cities in India, and won many awards.
