The Dronacharya Chess Academy is organizing an open chess tournament for children below the age of 16, at the Vasavi Club, Khairatabad, on 28th and 29th June.
This tournament is open to anyone below 16. It will be conducted in accordance with the latest FIDE rules, in a seven round Swiss League format. 70-80 players are expected to take part in the tournament. The pairings will be done with the help of computers. In this format, each player has to play 7 rounds of matches. The player with the maximum points after the 7 rounds will be adjudged the winner, and the player with the second highest points, the runner-up. Cash prizes of Rs. 7,500, along with mementos and trophies, will be given away to the top players.
The Dronacharya Chess Academy was established 2 years ago with the intention of coaching aspiring chess players and organising tournaments for their development. It is affiliated to the All-India Chess Federation.
The registration fee is Rs. 200 per head. The matches commence at 1pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday. Please contact Y Sameer Kumar at 92463-44435 for further details.
