Malgudi, the Southern-cuisine restaurant, is organising a festival of authentic Chettinad food, from 30th November to 9th December. Chef Vijayanand has been specially flown in from Chennai to prepare various dishes from Chettinad.
The menu will have various traditional items like the Chicken Chettinad, Virdunagar Mutton Curry, Attu Erachi Varuvil, Kaikari, Carrot Thayir Pachadi, Chow Chow Koottu, Karunai Kilangu Masiyal, Keerai Koottu, Keerai Masiyal, Chettinad Biryani, Vazhakkai Pulikulambu, Vegetable Perattal and Vella Mangai Pachadi. For desserts, there are Beetroot Halwa, Seeyam and Payasam.
Chettinad cuisine is one of the spiciest, oiliest and most aromatic in India. It is characterized by liberal use of oil and spices. Most Chettinad dishes have generous amounts of peppercorn, cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamom, nutmeg, green and red chilies.
The dishes in the menu are all available a la carte, both for lunch and dinner, at all the four Malgudi restaurants in Begumpet, Kukatpally, Banjara Hills and Gachibowli. Please contact 92463-33820 for further details.
