Some people say Shilparamam can't get any better. Well, it gets better every weekend.
Shilparamam, as part of its weekly program of music, is organising a Carnatic vocal recital by Bharathi Sastry today. Sastry, along with her co-singer Suryachandra Rao, Satyadev on the keyboards and Vidyasagar on the tabla, will be reciting some devotional light musical songs, starting with Bhaja Manasa in Bahudari raagam, followed by Idigaka Soubhagyamu in Vagadeshwari raagam, Nannu Gannavayya in Ranjini raagam, Viswa Prakasanuku in Hamsanadha raagam, Navarasumadhi Nalumakshi in Bilahari raagam, and a couple of Annamacharya and Sampradaya keertanas.
Bharathi is a B-grade artiste of the AIR, and the daughter and disciple of V Saraswati, a veena and vocal artiste. Thereafter, she learnt vocal from her uncle Late Dr Emani Shankara Sastry. She has performed at various concerts for Govt of AP at the Krishna and Godavari Pushkaras, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Srisailam and Mumbai. A cassette with the title Devi Navaratri Geetamalika, comprising a collection of songs on the Mother Goddess, composed by her and Prakhya Anjaneya Sastry, was released this year.
