What do you think of a reputed software company that hires a painter to head a team? More pertinent, actually, is what the company thinks of the painter.
Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Arts is organising an exhibition of paintings with the theme Metaphors And Expressions, by Masood Nasser, from 2nd to 10th December. Nasser is exhibiting 24 of his recent works, done with oil on canvas. This set of paintings depicts Nasser's love for nature and its expression. He has tried to capture the mystical expression of nature, on canvas.
Nasser heads the Solutions Architecture team of the User Experience practice at Satyam. He is an artist who primarily paints in the abstract expressionist style in oils, but is not restricted to the style or the medium. His eclectic style of painting captures a global perspective and yet retains its Indian roots.
His favourite medium of painting is oil since, as he says, it gives endless possibilities of techniques, style, exploration and application, though he is increasingly exploring alternate mediums.
Nasser is an alumnus of the L S Raheja School of Art in Bandra, Mumbai. Since childhood, painting has been his foremost passion. At school, he studied composition, still life, portraiture, life-drawing, figurative, and various other forms of art. He won an award in college for his favourite genre, the composition.
With his contrast style of painting, he can combine the real with the surreal, nature with the man-made, the animate with the inanimate, the abstract with the real. His art's lovers are confined not only to Indian cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Chennai, but are also apread out in the US, Canada and the Middle-East.
