The Nada Bharathi concerts all this week are almost an option to normal life for all the city's classical music lovers. Tonite's performer is an example.
Nada Bharathi is organising a Sangeet Sammelan from 4th to 11th December, at Sundarayya Vignana Kendra. Today, the 3rd day, Akondi Srinivasa Raja Rao of Kakinada will be presenting a Carnatic vocal recital, along with R Dinakar on the violin, P Srinivas Gopalan on the mridangam and S Hanumantha Rao on the ghatam.
Akondi Srinivasa Raja Rao is a vocalist of great merit from Kakinada, who learnt music from Late M L Narasimham, Allamraju Someshwara Rao, and later on from Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr Nedunuri Krishna Murthy. He is a B-High grade artiste of the AIR, and has been performing since 1986.
He has performed in many places of the country like Chennai, Calicut, Kharagpur, Vizag, Kakinada and Rajahmundry, and in sabhas like Saarvani Sangita Sabha, Suswara, Sri Narayana Thirtha Swamy Trust, Saraswati Gana Sabha, Visakha Music Academy, Sadguru Sangeeta Sabha and the Andhra Music Academy.
He has been felicitated by various organisations with awards and titles like Sampradaya Gayakaratna and Swara Raga Sudharnava. Besides being a vocal musician, he is also a prlific writer, having written books like Sangeeta Vidya Prakashika, Sangeetha Swaralu, Sangeetha Pathalu and Syama Sastry Keertanalu.
Nada Bharathi was started in 2000 by a renowned mridangist Yuva Sangeeta Bharathi Paravastu Srinivas Gopalan, who hails from a family of classical musicians. The basic objective of the organisation is to preserve, promote and propogate all forms of classical music, by increasing awareness through regular concerts.
Since its inception, it has conducted more than 500 concerts, concentrating not only on Carnatic music, but also on Hindustani music. The organisation has organised musical concerts of renowned vocalists, violinists, mridangists, flautists and vainikas.
