The employees of BSNL are taking a break from work this week. Okay, no jokes, now.
The Andhra Pradesh Telecom Circle is hosting the 6th All-India BSNL Badminton Tournament at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, from 6th to 11th December, in which 183 players from 22 telecom circles and MTNL, Mumbai and Delhi, are taking part.
The competitions will be held in singles, doubles, mixed-doubles and veteran singles. The tournament is being organised for the sixth time in a row, with the objective of promoting sports activities among telecom employees, and also to provide an opportunity for the players to interact with each other.
Pullela Gopichand is the chief guest for the valedictory function. Prizes and trophies will be given to the winners and runners. Participation certificates will be given to all the participants.
The Andhra Pradesh Telecom Circle is fielding a strong team of top-ranked players like Satyaprasad, Peddabbai, K Tanishk, Anil Kumar, Satyanarayana, Deepti, Shalini and Jyoti Swaroopa, with Ananda Babu as the coach. The state is top-seeded for this tournament.
