If your first memories of cane are as a verb, then it will perhaps be a little difficult for you to see aesthetics in it. Yet, Indian tribal art has always been enhanced and beatified by the usage of cane and bamboo. Products of these are as variegated as they come and are clearly a function of the artisan's imagination. From umbrella handles and fences to baskets, mats and furniture, they are part of everyday life in a variety of ways, and with the right touch, can add a lot of color to it.
The right touch, of course, requires the right craftsmen, and the crafts village of Hyderabad is now aggregating artisans of these products. Like exhibitions usually are here, expect this one to be attractively priced too, and stall any furniture shopping till this one takes off on the 4th.
There are other products on display, too. Kurja pottery, Saharanpur wooden furniture, Tanjore Paintings, Narsapur laces, Pemburty brassware, hand embroidery, paper made items etc. also contribute to making up the 60 stalls that usually comprise a full-fledged exhibition here.
